Custom Lighting Control

What It Is

By definition, a lighting control system is an intelligent network that communicates between various system inputs and outputs with the use of one or more central computing devices, regarding lighting. There are plenty of different functions and tools that can be used to create different light scenes, turn lights on and off, dim them down and so much more.  With that being said, smart lighting is often the first step that homeowners take to turn their house into a smart home.  One of the reasons being, there are a few easy ways to control your smart lighting; personalized keypads, user-friendly mobile apps, and even voice control.

Types of Lighting Control

Wireless lighting and Centralized lighting are two of the main types of lighting control that we use here at Integrity.

Wireless Lighting:

Wireless lighting is used where walls may not be cut open to  run cables.  Wireless switches, dimmers, and keypads can be used  in place and in turn, be more favorable for remodel projects.   Using the same wires from your previous light switches, the new  smart switches will connect to the controller wirelessly.

Centralized Lighting:

Typically, centralized lighting is used for homes that are  going under major renovations, or completely new builds.  A  central, hardwired location is connected to the lights, which  connects the smart home to a controller.  This way, it is wired for  one switch station that has multiple functions or controls.

Lighting Control Convenience

There are so many ways to access the lighting control systems.  Through smartphones, a wall panel, or even a remote control can conveniently adjust any of the lighting in your home, within just a few seconds.  Being able to customize where your switches are placed in the home, make it easier for you to access as well.  This is especially true, when they are placed on corners and commonly passed areas.

From garage door sensors triggering your hallway lighting to brighten up, to your hallway sensors turning on your lights late at night, the customizable options are endless to simplify your daily routine.

Customizing the Looks of a Smart Home

Fortunately, when you create lighting control in your home, you can choose which keypads, switches, and dimmers are the best look to match your home.  Just one customizable keypad can be programmed to control multiple lights in different rooms, or even set a type of preset lighting scene.

While you are going through the different colors and style of the keypads and switches, you can also consider the look of the touch-screen panels that control the system as well.  These touch screen panels really put the ‘smart’ in smart home.

Big Energy Saver

Often we forget to turn off the lights, but with Lighting Control, you can open the app and turn off lights even if you are not in the house.  Another way to save energy is to program a personal schedule on your timers and sensors, or you can use your sensors timers to turn out lights when activity has not been sensed after a while. Dimmers also have the ability to reduce the power to the lighting source, when possible, which will save energy, extend the bulb’s life and reduce the need for electrical maintenance or repair from overuse.

All of that to be said, this is just a touch of what is put into when it comes to lighting control and making your house a smart home!
